Obituary

Barbara Anne Bunkley Ray, a life long resident of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away at the age of 85, on Thursday, August 30, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.  She will join her husband, Guy Henderson Bunkley, Sr., her parents, Rufus and Elizabeth Layfield, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Bunkley, in heaven.

Barbara was born November 2, 1935, to Rufus and Elizabeth Boswell Layfield, and was a member of Arco Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021, 11:00 am, at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Brother Charles Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Chapel Park Cemetery with Scott Sykes, Terry Sykes, Lloyd Douglas, Logan Rowell Josh Rowell, Elias Rowell, Jr., and Christopher Lee Bunkley, Jr.   A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 14 years, Elias Ray, her children, Guy Bunkley, Jr., Randy Bunkley (Brenda), Timothy Bunkley (Brenda), Chris Bunkley, and Joy Sykes (Scott), Michele Rowell (Josh),  and Elias Ray, Jr. (Penny), grandchildren, Jeremy, Aimee, Randy, Jr., Brian, Adam, Cara, Quida, Eli, Christian, Christopher, Anslee, Logan (Lauren), Breanna, Lauryn, Molly, Craig, and Erica, and numerous great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Diabetes Association.
Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
