BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Beth Ellen McGirt Adams, beloved wife of John Anthony "Tony" Adams, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health Systems. Born in Columbia, SC, on December 10, 1965, she was the daughter of Helen Bernice Cartledge Mason (James) and George Harold McGirt (Alice).
In addition to her husband and her parents, she is survived by her daughters, Kelly MacKenzie Wiggins, of Kennesaw, Ga., and Hope Delaney Wiggins, of Charleston, S.C.; her sisters, Heather Lynn McGirt Nickles (Bond) and Jennifer Ann McGirt Haase; and cherished extended family members.
Beth was a graduate of Irmo High School and the University of South Carolina; she also attended Winthrop University. In both high school and college, Beth was an accomplished vocalist who performed in several renowned musical ensembles and theatre productions. Trained by Lillian Quackenbush from an early age, she continued to sing professionally with her husband. She also enjoyed fiction writing and caring for her cats.
After college, Beth worked at Disney World before embarking on a broadcast journalism career as a news anchor on radio stations in Columbia and Brunswick. Subsequently, she was the advertising and marketing director for Nalley Brunswick Automobiles, after which she transitioned to Gilbert Harrell law firm. For the past decade, Beth has served as the office manager and legal assistant for the Roberts Tate, LLC, Attorneys at Law.
