Obituary

Calford "Sonny" Jones, 86, of Brunswick, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at his residence.

Sonny was born November 11, 1935, in Screven, Ga, to Frank and Ocilla Jones.  He moved to Brunswick at the age of 16, and shortly after, began working at Georgia Pacific where he worked for over 40 years.  Sonny was the owner of the Old South Restaurant where he could often be seen sitting in his corner booth, making sure that everything ran smooth.  He was also the owner and operator of Jones Rentals with over 130 units, which provided housing for numerous families in Glynn County.  He enjoyed farming, and his cows and horses on his farm in Screven, and attended Golden Isles Church of God.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 65 years, Catherine Copeland Jones, daughters, Tonya Delise (Pete), of Sarasota, FL, Holly Marshall, Kayla Jones, and Alexis Copeland, all of Brunswick, grandchildren, Blair Lyons (Bryce), Deborah Marshall, Nicole Marshall, Brenson Jones, Catherine Jones, and Brysan Ferrell, great grandchildren, Brynlee Lyons, Brighton Lyons, Johnathan Lyons, Emilee Strean, Graycen Strean, sisters, Joyce Stanley, Dorothy Stockdale, Ann Garland, Sherri Stephens, Faye Duerk (Jim), June Allen (Mike), brothers, Fredrick Jones (Susan), Gary Jones (Lynn), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held.
Chapman Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
