Carol
Smith
Sep 17, 1941 — Jun 12, 2024
Carol Dionne Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, on June 12, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and love. Born on September 17, 1941, in St. George, Georgia to Sam and Clemmie Richardson, Carol's life was a testament to kindness, helpfulness, and a touch of sass.
Raised in the Lax community of Wray, Georgia, Carol graduated from Coffee County High School and continued her education at South Georgia College in Douglas. In 1961, she married Charles Smith, also of Lax, and together they embarked on a life filled with love and perseverance.
Their journey took them to Miami, Florida, before settling in Brunswick, Georgia in 1963. Carol was employed at American National Bank until her retirement in 1983. Following her retirement, she embraced the role of a homemaker.
As a mama, Carol tirelessly raised her daughters, instilling in them her values of faith, hard work and compassion. She cherished her role as a grandma and created a lifetime of cherished memories with her beloved grandchildren.
Carol was deeply involved in her community. A dedicated member of the Urbana Garden Club, D-D Saddle Club, and Glynn County PTA, she actively participated and often held leadership positions. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a member of Sterling Baptist Church. She was also known for her generous hospitality and love of cooking. Her home was a gathering place for friends and family, where she delighted everyone with her delicious meals and warm spirit.
Three great loves defined Carol's life: Jesus, her family and friends, and Elvis Presley. With unwavering faith, boundless love for her family and friends, and an undeniable appreciation for Elvis, Carol left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be remembered for her helpfulness, kindness, and a touch of sass that added a unique sparkle to her personality.
Carol leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Cristee Kinstle; her grandchildren, Chase Adams, Charlie Kinstle, and Caroline Kinstle; her sister, Jean Buchan; many cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who became her extended family.
