Carolyn Annette Elam, 86, passed away suddenly, but peacefully on May 28, 2024.  Although born in Savannah, Georgia on March 4, 1938. It was Roxboro, NC where she spent her youth, and got her education.  She received her music degree from East Carolina University.  Carolyn Elam  became a teacher of choral music and drama, first in Savannah, and later in Brunswick.  In earlier years, she was choir director at both Isle of Hope Baptist Church, and College Place United Methodist.  However, it was the theater, and the stage where she gained renown for her direction of amazing, professionally-staged music productions. At Brunswick High, she will be forever remembered as, "THE Miss Elam".
Her final production was 'The Grand Finale' (1993). It was spectacular!  Carolyn brought Broadway to Brunswick High, and they loved it. She was a passionate teacher, and was twice named teacher of the year.  She wanted learning to be fun in a precise way.  Carolyn had a warmth and enthusiasm that was contagious, as well as her laughter. Her love of animals has always been an integral part of her life, from pet-sitting to rescue.  She loved all of God's creatures, great and small.  She will be eternally missed by survivors; Melissa Smith (forever friend and caregiver), and their four-legged cherubs of Brunswick, her sister, Sharon Linscott (Jack), a brother Howard Elam (Anne), and her sister Donna Elam Smith, all of NC, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins in Savannah.

A Service to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at a later date.
