Catherine Young McCarthy, 59, of Waverly, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at her residence.
A visitation for family and friends, will be held Tuesday, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, at Chapman Funeral Chapel.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am, from the grave site at Homeward Cemetery, with Pastor Jimmy Guffey officiating.
Cathy was born September 3, 1958, in Brunswick, GA, to Emory and Margaret Ann Shoemaker Young. She was a graduate of Brunswick High School and of the Episcopal Faith.
Survivors include her son, Ward McCarthy of Waverly, parents Emory and Margaret Ann Young,
her brothers and their wives, Emory Young, Jr. (Renee'), and Cliff Young (Tammy), a sister-in-law, Celeste Sidman (Howard), and several nieces and nephews. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, John C. McCarthy, and a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Dub Lazzrie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
