Obituary

Charles Roscoe Outland, 82, of Brunswick, passed peacefully away under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles on August 12, 2023.

A memorial service with Military Honors and Masonic Rites, will be held Friday, August 18, 2023, at 5:00pm, at Chapman Funeral Chapel.  The family will be receiving friends from 4:00pm until service time.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia on July 28,1941 to the late Clifton Charles and Lunette Jordan Outland.  He attended Gramby High School in Norfolk, Virginia. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Sept. 9th, 1966, thru Sept. 8th, 1972, as a jet engine and aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. Through the years, he owned several small businesses that included roofing, carpentry, cabinetry, and lawn care.  A member, of Brunswick Lodge 717 F&AM, and Past Master of Golden Isles Lodge 707, F&AM, and Past Master of Atlantic Daylight Lodge.  He greatly enjoyed his time as a Shriner clown, and Past President of Alee Temple.  He was affectionately known as "Papa Chuck" by his family and church youth groups that he ministered to via mission trips doing construction projects.

Survivors include a son: Clifton Nicholson, granddaughter, Kristina (Keith) Kolatski, great grandchildren, Bryson, Ryder, and Adalynn Kolatski.  Charles is also survived by his family he obtained through marriage to Camellia, stepchildren, Cammie (Todd) Hope, Walter (Lynda) Goodbread, Jimmy (Patty) Goodbread, grandchildren, Robbie (Frannie) Hope, Megan Hope, Morgan Goodbread, Kayte Goodbread, Christopher Goodbread, Ryan Goodbread, Cody Goodbread, and a great granddaughter, Collier Hope.  He is also survived by an extended family from a previous marriage, Rusty Gilbert, Vickie Gilbert, Richard Gilbert, Amy Hasler, Chloe, Kaden and Eli Hasler, Melanie Tiedemann, Makayla, Savannah, and Ledgin Tiedman, Melissa and Cody Conder, Zayden Conder, Kurt Gilbert, Allie Draper, Zayla Gilbert.  He is predeceased by two months, his wife of 34 years, Camellia Outland, his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Rick Chapman, and granddaughter, Katie Chapman, and his only sibling, Doris Outland Talley.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
