Born June 16, 1953 in Carbondale, Illinois to Robert Gene and Anna Kathryn (Hamby) Brown. Charles was a graduate of Carterville High School Class of 1971, and continued his education at John A. Logan College. After serving as a Federal Corrections Officer and fireman in Illinois, Charles moved to Brunswick in 1990, where he was a firearms instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center until his retirement in 2010.
He was a member of The Coastal Georgia Gun Club, Fraternal Order of Police, Harley Owners Group, National Rifle Association, Red Knights Motorcycle Club and AFGE/AFL-CIO Local 2002 Union while employed with FLETC. He was a gifted competitive shooter- winning numerous awards, a talented woodworker, motorcycle enthusiast, and an avid gunsmith.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother Anna Kathryn Brown, three daughters Sarah Bright, Megan Brown, Laura Brown, brother Ron Brown and his wife Cindy along with their two daughters Jessica and Danielle Brown, grandchildren Parker and Maci Gibson, Andrew and Henry Bright, Carter and Colton Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father.
A gathering to celebrate his life, will be held at Chapman Funeral Chapel, Monday August 2, 2021 from 5:30- 7:30PM .
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Southeast GA Health System for their kindness and compassion during his stay.
