Corbett Lee Johns, age 76, of Brunswick, Georgia was born on April 27th, 1946, to the late Joel Calvin Johns and the late Mary Ella Johns. Corbett passed away on Friday, March 17th after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cheryl Johns, two step-sons Patrick Scogin (Robyn) and Colin Scogin (Heidi), He is the oldest of three siblings and leaves behind two sisters Phyllis Nase (Jim) and Roberta Clarke-Alotta (Bob). He loved his grandchildren, Meagan Arnold (Brenton), Jeffrey Bryant, Aidan Scogin and Pierson Scogin, and great grandchildren Brennan Channell, Everly Arnold and Henry Arnold. Corbett is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins, and his long-time canine companion, Buddy.

Corbett graduated from Glynn Academy in 1964. He attended Brunswick Junior College prior to entering the United States Navy. He began a career in maintenance at Southeast Georgia Health System in 1975 where he worked until 2001. He then began a second career working at Central Hardware where he remained through 2020.

Corbett dearly loved his family and spending time with them from trips to Disney World, fishing, enjoying older cars, playing softball-where he was very proud to have played on a coed team with his wife and stepsons. He was also known for having the ability to sharpen knives better than most and was often asked by local restaurants to sharpen their implements. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog, Atlanta Braves, and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Visitation will be held at Chapman Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 1:00 PM, with a service to follow at 2:00PM.  Burial will follow at Palmetto Cemetery, with Jimmy Shaw, Harold Shadron, Baxter Shaw, Ken Tucker, Jeffrey Bryant, Robert Strayer Jr., and Michael Martin serving as active pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hall, Corbett's former co-workers of SGHS Maintenance Department, and his former co-workers at Central Hardware.
