Cynthia Diane Gressel, 64, of Brunswick, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Southeast Georgia Health System of Brunswick.
Cynthia was born November 2,1959, to Vernon and Nell Bailey Cooper in Brunswick. Cynthia graduated from Wayne County High School, and has been a Golden Isles resident since 1979. She loved doing things for others without them knowing what she had done. Cynthia truly had a giving heart. She also served as secretary at Pine Ridge Baptist, Glyndale Baptist, and First Baptist Church of Brunswick. Above all other things, being with her family was the most important to her. She enjoyed cross-stitching, making jewelry, working in her yard with her beautiful flowers and plants, and bird watching from her front porch. She was a member of Glyndale Baptist Church. She also served as secretary at Pine Ridge Baptist, Glyndale Baptist, and First Baptist Church of Brunswick.
Cynthia leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Michael Gressel, daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Gressel of Brunswick, mother, Nell B. Cooper of Jesup, sisters, Sandra Drawdy (Gary) of Brunswick, Lisa Ring of Jesup, and Jamie Nichols (Sheldon), of Brunswick. She is preceded in death by her father, Vernon Gray Cooper, father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Sara Gressel, and brother-in-law, David Ring.
Services for Cynthia will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ken Creekmore officiating. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery, with Matty White, Eric Milner, Alex Ring, Cooper Ring, Clayton Davis, Justin Drawdy, Roger Callaway, and Geraldo Lara serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Cynthia's nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 - 7 PM, Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Chapman Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the 'Together We Grow' Building Fund at Glyndale Baptist Church.
