Dorothy Diana Fiveash, 72, of St. Mary,  Brunswick and Blairsville, passed away Thursday March 10, 2022

Dorothy was born April 15, 1949 to Serentha Dyal Smith and Paunell Smith in Waycross. She was a graduate of Camden County High School and attended at St. Vincent's Medical College  earning a Bachelor's degree. Dorothy began her career in healthcare working as a candy striper as teenager in Camden. She was an extremely hard worker and loyal employee. Working her way up to a management positions before returning to Camden to accept a position as a Medical Technologist at Southeast Georgia Health System  to take care of her parents.  Dorothy also managed many  laboratories in Georgia and across the Southeast, including GA Baptist Hospital Lab. She really enjoyed working nights with Cat and the environment of the lab pre - covid with all her true friends. She believed beyond a doubt that Patient Care was most important and came first. Dorothy was so skilled and extremely dedicated in her profession and  her work she was the one that other co workers would  enlist her services to draw blood on babies,the elderly, and anyone who was difficult to stick; she never missed but not just the vein but the heart. She always hit her target with kindness if was at the hospital with a patient, teaching with her husband as an instructor at their businesses Hit your target and The Second Amendment Firearms Emporium for the betterment of their children/ Society, going to shooting matches to cheer her husband,  and /or sharing in fun times with family and friends she left this world a better place if she called you a friend she meant with her whole heart.

Dorothy treasured her close loving relationship with her daughter  and relationship/ marriage  of over twenty four years, to her husband  Julius Ray Fiveash Jr. She devoted her life to her family, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she even traveled to be with her daughter in Australia to be present for the birth of Scarlett Taylor. She was dedicated and consummate caregiver, she nurtured her parents through illness to the end of both their lives and her beloved husband.  She was always willing to give a hand when someone was in need. After the death of her son she'd helped raise her much loved grandchild Chelsea  and really enjoyed visiting her grandson Jake who she was very proud of the man he has become. Dorothy always told people that she loved them, and believed in the importance of always trying and doing your best and living a good life. She enjoyed many happy times with her family and family in North Ga, St. Marys, Brunswick, Waycross, and Australia etc. Talking non stop with her daughter and sharing daily life, Happiness and laughter,food and a great cup of coffee made by  her son in law Ray for her and Jr.  Playing games, and having fun with her granddaughter Scarlett was her lasting joy in the end.

She loved Georgia/ St. Marys and the outdoors, splitting her time between St. Marys and Brunswick, hiking, traveling, painting, reading, science, movies, pinochle and being in nature. She was always ready for a good laugh, joke or a fun innocent trick. She loved her childhood. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church her whole life and brought joy and fun to every room she entered. She believed in God, loyalty, that one should never give up to repair damage they caused to another and standing up for what is right.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Angela Taylor, son in-law Ray Taylor siblings; Tommy Smith, and Delores Dean (Terry) , grandchildren; Scarlett Taylor, Jake Reed, Chelsea Reed, Andy Jones, Kasie Jones, Harley Fiveash, Step Children Christine Jones and Derrick Fiveash etc. and many nieces nephews, Brigitte, Melissa, Jonette, Chris, Alex, Jason, other loved ones in her family and all her friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by both of her parents,her son, Barry Wayne Reed Jr and  her husband Julies Ray Fiveash Jr.

A celebration of Life for Dorothy Fiveash, will be held at Crooked River State Park, St. Marys, GA, Group shelter #1, Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 12:00 noon.  Be advised there is a required parking fee to enter the park.  A meal will be provided, feel free to bring a dish.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project.
