Esther Leigh Howard's Obituary
Esther Leigh Howard, 72, of Brunswick, passed away December 23, 2021, at her residence in Brunswick.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021, 11:00am at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, with Pastor Ben Mandrick officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held 10:30 until service time. Interment will follow at Chapel Park Cemetery in Brunswick at 1:30pm, with Donnie O'Quinn, Danny O'Quinn, Mitch Sheppard, and Mike Biggans serving as active pallbearers.
Esther was born October 12, 1949, in Fernandina Beach, Florida, to Morgan and Effie Virginia Heath Howard. She was a graduate of Camden County High School. Esther was a dedicated, self-motivated, and well-organized Finance Manager. Her career ranged from Kings Bay, GA where she was responsible for overall accounting operations of government contracts with the United States Navy to Greenville, SC, where she was responsible for the overall accounting operation of a government services firm and finally to Kekaha, HI, where she was finance manager for the accounting of the Pacific Missile Range Facility. After returning to Brunswick in 2010 to be with her family, she worked remotely from home, in Finance Operations for her daughter-in-law, at Riverwalk Animal Hospital, while being the full-time caregiver for her mother, Virginia. Esther enjoyed playing golf and loved the beach. Most of all, she was the matriarch of her family, always bringing together her mother, children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family to share her love.
Esther is survived by her mother, Virginia O'Berry of Brunswick, children, Shannon O'Quinn (Stacy) of Ridgeland, SC, and Melanie Edwards of Brunswick, grandchildren, Austin O'Quinn and Samuel Edwards, a brother, Jerry Howard (Berlinda) of Woodbine, and a sister, Gloria Sheppard of Guyton. Chapman
