He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Virginia Leotis Ricks; two sons, Todd M. Ricks and Cory A. Ricks; and a son-in-law, Mitchell J. Sweeney. He is survived by one son, Gregory C. Ricks and his wife, Susan, of Savannah, Ga; one daughter, Jeri R. Sweeney of Brunswick, Ga; a daughter-in-law, Dory B. Ricks of Conway SC; and his grandchildren, Ryan Ricks (Carolyn), Taylor Sweeney (Crystal), Eric Ricks, Austin Sweeney, Manet, Michael, Sara, and Samantha Ricks; and Samuel Ricks. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Ervin, Adria, and Siena Ricks; Maddox Sweeney, Adler and Blair Sweeney.

Ferman was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving a short stint, and was honorably discharged. He was a lifelong entrepreneur and a founding member of Way, Langford, Ricks, and Downey, Inc., a real estate and insurance firm later rebranded as Insurance Agency of Glynn. Over the years, he owned and operated several businesses, including a putt-putt course, a liquor store, pawn shop, dry cleaning business, a burger joint, and was the founder of Liberty Bail Bonds. He was also a longtime member of the Optimist Club, a lifetime member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 691, and was one of the founding members of the Raccoon Club at Bennie's Red Barn. Ferman had a passion for antique cars, enjoyed traveling, and never passed up the excitement of a good game of chance or cards. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends. Ferman will be remembered for his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and the love he shared with those around him.
