Floyd Emerson Gressel Jr., 89, of Brunswick passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Southeast Georgia Health System.
Born March 6, 1932 to Nelle DeWilton Roberts and Floyd Emerson Gressel Sr. in Brunswick, GA, Floyd was a lifelong resident of Glynn County. He was a hard worker all his life and retired from Hercules as a Boiler Operator in 1991. He served his country proudly in The United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. Floyd was a Baptist by faith, and was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church all of his adult life. He enjoyed his Sunday School class and was a Deacon, and Trustee there. He was a skilled in lapidary work, and loved the precision of cutting rocks and gems and making jewelry. He also had a passion for gardening, traveling, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Valerie Gressel Little (Mitchell) of Brunswick, Michael E. Gressel (Cynthia) of Brunswick, three grandchildren Stephen M. Little (Elizabeth), Tracey L. Wendel (Alan), Rachel E. Gressel, four great grandchildren Logan Wendel, Cadence Wendel, Emma Little, Kevin Little, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM at Chapman Funeral Chapel, with services the following day, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Pine Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Palmetto Cemetery. Brother Jerry Johns and Brother Felix Haynes will be officiating. Jim Deloach, Geraldo Lara, Stephen Little, Roger Callaway, Alan Wendel, and Logan Wendel will be serving as active pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made in Floyd's name to Pine Ridge Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Chapman Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
