Frances Crews
King
Feb 12, 1923 — Jul 28, 2024
Frances Crews King, 101, of Brunswick, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held from the gravesite at Palmetto Cemetery on Friday, August 2, 2024, 10:00 am, with Brother Tommy Whaley officiating. Loved ones will gather Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Chapman Funeral Chapel.
Coming from Hickox, GA, Frances had lived in Brunswick since 1940. She was a member of the Darien Church of God and was baptized there on her 101st birthday. She had been employed as a line worker with SeaPak, a seamstress with Brunswick Manufacturing, a cook at the school cafeteria, and a cook at the Old South Restaurant, where she worked until the restaurant's closing. She loved her family and was renowned as a great cook and especially known for cooking excellent mouth watering biscuits. No one ever came to her house without her finding out what they loved to eat, and being sure it was prepared especially for them. She had a beautiful garden that she worked in until her son passed in 2020. She loved to talk about gardening and planting signs, and she loved to talk with her family and listen to their hunting stories. She bragged on her family and thought the world of them. She helped them out her entire life and tried to always say nothing if she couldn't say anything nice. She sheltered many relatives and friends in her home over the years and helped many people improve their lot in life. She always offered a kind word and something to eat. Good food could fix almost anything.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Alice (Jimmy), Jay, Eric (Miranda), Anne, and Matt; great grandchildren, Michelle (Adam), BethAnne (Billy), Braxton, Tad, William, Shannon, Kati, Zack (Rose), Douglas, Jason (Kim), and Josh; great great grandchildren include Coralie, J.T., Sulien, Madelyn, Henry, Ollie, and Tallulah. Surviving nieces, Charlene and Beth Anne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Lovie Johns Crews, her husband, Floyd, sons, Billy (Judy), Bobby (Debbie), and grandson, Billy.
The family would like to thank the nurses, Doctors, and staff of Southeast Georgia Health System-Brunswick, Campus, especially, Dr. Matthew Certain, who diligently advocated and cared for Frances. She was his oldest cardioversion patient, at 101, and she loved him dearly. Also, thank you to Dr. Heine, who made Frances feel that she was always in good hands.
Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
