Gary Christopher Odum, 77, of Brunswick, passed away March 24, 2024, at Hospice of the Golden Isles, after a short battle with lung cancer.

Gary was born March 10, 1947, in Jesup, GA, to Joe and Eloise Odum.  He attended Wayne County High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp in 1966.  He loved his country and the USMC.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf.

Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Odum, his children, Tony Thurston, Alan Thurston (Christy), and Christie DePratter (Jeremy), grandchildren, Marshall Grantham (Jessica), Ashley Thurston, Tyler Thurston, Wesley Thurston, Clay Thurston, Cory Thurston, and Raelyn DePratter, great grandchildren, Gavin, Gracelyn, Tripp, Olivia, Alaina, and Liam, one brother, Padgett Odum (Jane) and one sister, Mary Jo Kirk (Glenn). He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Diane, Colt Addison DePratter, and his beloved dog Sassy.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00pm, at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Davey Covey officiating.  Interment with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corp, will follow at 4:00pm, in the Odum City Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to service time.
