Glen Carroll Bates, Jr., 56, of Brunswick, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his residence.
Services to celebrate Glen's life will be held Tuesday January 18, 2022, 11:00 am, at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris Dockery officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to service time.
Glen was born September 5, 1965, in Valdosta, GA to Mary Kate & Glen Bates, Sr, and moved with his family, to Brunswick at the age of 5. He was of the Primitive Baptist Faith and was a 1983 graduate of Brunswick High School. Glen worked at Winn Dixie for 10 years, prior to receiving his Commercial Driver's License, and began cross country truck driving. He later became the owner and operator of his own truck, and eventually went back to work for Winn Dixie. Glen loved cooking, he enjoyed preparing all the snacks and appetizers for himself and his friends as they watched football and NASCAR.
Glen is survived by his
beloved furbaby and best friend, Duke, his mother and step-father, Mary Kate and George Martin, of Brunswick, his sister, Pam Barwick (Ronnie) of Brunswick, nephews, Christopher Barwick of Tybee Island, Chase Barwick of UK, a niece, Samantha Barwick of Brunswick, and a special friend, Lisa Beckham. Glen was preceded in death by his father Glen Carroll Bates, Sr, and a niece Lynndy Barwick.
