Glenda
Beck
Jun 20, 1940 — Jul 5, 2025
Glenda Raye Beck, age 85, of Brunswick, Georgia, formerly of Leeds, Alabama, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on July 5, 2025.
Born in 1940 in Leeds, Alabama, Glenda was a woman of deep love, enduring faith, and tireless devotion to her family and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Odell Beck; her son, Robert Avery Beck; her parents, Tommie and Lula Mae Bishop; siblings Victor Bishop, Jackie Davis, Dale Bishop; and her son-in-law, Dave Idleman.
Glenda is survived by her loving children: Tommy (Alyson) Beck, Shea Beck Idleman, Kelli Wommack, and Gina (Roy) Newsome. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Robbie Morales, Ryan Morales, Jonathan Newsome, Dalton Newsome, Trey McGee, Beck McGee, William (Country) Roberts, Anna Beck, Molli-Malone Wommack, Ansley Beck, and Emma Clark. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Hyleigh Morales, Alaynah Newsome, Chezlee Morales, Luke Newsome, Colette "Coco" McGee, and one precious great-grandson expected in December.
For over 20 years, Glenda poured her heart into operating a playschool where she touched countless young lives and formed lifelong friendships. Her days were filled with laughter, patience, and the joy of nurturing children—something she did with immense grace.
A faithful Christian, Glenda was an active member of her church, where she found strength, community, and joy. Her church family meant the world to her. Glenda also had a love for life's simple pleasures. In her younger years, she could often be found water skiing, crocheting, cross-stitching, sewing, or reading a good book. She never missed an episode of Days of Our Lives and cheered passionately for her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide.
She was the heart of her family—a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Glenda's warmth, humor, and love will be missed beyond measure.
A service to celebrate Glenda's life will be held at Chapman Funeral Chapel, Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Travis Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Robbie Morales, Ryan Morales, Trey McGee, Beck McGee, Ricky Beck, and William (Country) Roberts serving as active pallbearers, and Pruitt Health Care, Hospice of the Golden Isles, Dr. Scott Clay, Dennie Strickland, and Gail Mobley serving as honorary pallbearers. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 9, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Glenda's memory by loving others well, cherishing family, and cheering for Alabama on Saturdays—just as she would have wanted.
