Dr. Jack H. Melton passed away Friday May 14,2021 at his residence.

Jack was born March 26, 1947, in Brunswick to Charles Elliot and Cora Nell Taft Melton,  He was a 1965 graduate of Glynn Academy, and attended North Georgia College graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry, and a reserve commission in the U.S. Army.  Jack then attended West Georgia College, earning a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1970.  He was then employed by the Paulding County Board of Education as an elementary school principle, at the time, the youngest elementary school principle in Georgia, and then entered the Army, followed by graduating from Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1974.

Dr. Melton practiced dentistry many years on St. Simons Island.  He loved dentistry, fishing, duck hunting, pheasant hunting, the outdoors, gardening, and bird watching.

Survivors include his children, Jacob Melton (Hannah), Bradhie Melton, and their mother, Donise Melton, all of St. Simons Island, Julia Melton Deal (Ken) of Richmond Hill, Jonathan Alan Melton (DeLinda) of Oklahoma City, OK, and his grandchildren, Jack Henry 'Hank" Pityer, Milani Jaymes 'Milly' Melton, Carlie Deal, Sara Beth Deal, and Greyson Deal.

Services, to celebrate Dr. Meltons life, will be held Sunday, May 23, 2021, 3:00pm at Captains Bluff 300 Stevens Road, St. Simons Island, with Rev. Larry Lane officiating.

There will be no parking at Captain's Bluff, however, trolley transportation will be provided from Oglethorpe Elementary School, 6200 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, from 2:00 pm until service time, for all guests attending the service.
