Jackie Harrell, 95, of Brunswick, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the residence of her daughter, Hollie Edgy.

Jackie was born April 10, 1928, in Hazelhurst, GA, to Johnny Dalton Davis and Mary Elizabeth Spell Davis.  In 1951, she married Oris Hollie Harrell, and moved to Brunswick in 1954.  Jackie worked for Southern Bell/AT&T until her retirement in 1981.  'Jack' as she was referred to by her grandchildren, and so many others, even though she preferred to be called grandmother, 'Jack' was fine with her.  If you ever went to visit Jackie, she was always in the kitchen cooking something.  She would feed you until you would say, I just can't eat anymore.  Before you left, whatever you didn't eat, you took home with you.  Everyone she met would always say that she was the kindest person and a southern lady.  She loved working in her yard up to the age of 92.  Even at the age of 95, and with Dementia, she still wanted to go shopping.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, and making everyone happy.  She made the best cookies, that were loved by everyone.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2024, 4:30, at Chapman Funeral Chapel, with interment to be held Monday, April 8, 2024, 11:00am, at Satilla Freewill Baptist Church in Hazelhurst, GA.  A visitation for family and friends will be held at Chapman Funeral Chapel; from 3:00pm until service service time.  There will be a memorial service at a later date.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Antonio, Tery Antonio, Brett Edgy, Richard Edgy, Russ Edgy, Andy Kistler, Danny Lowe, Jim Sweat, Joseph Sweat, Jimmy Tindol, and Jay Wright.  The family would like to give a very special 'Thank you' to Betty Holms.  Who became like family while sitting with Mom during the day.

Survivors include her children, Oris Thomas 'Tommy' Harrell (Jan) of Americus, GA, Hollie Harrell Edgy (Bill) of Brunswick, sisters-in-law, Willa Gene Underwood and Eloise Rish, grandchildren, Davis Rooks (Morgan), Dalton Rooks, Alex Harrell, Tyler Harrell, great granddaughters, Teagan and Eleanor Rooks, and Olivia Edgy, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Oris Hollie Harrell, and sisters, Virginia Clifford Cole and Mary Elizabeth Sweat.
