Obituary

Jimmy Mancil, 69, of Brunswick passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022.

Services to celebrate Jimmy's life, will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022, 5:00PM, in his private hangar at the Brunswick-Glynco Airport, with Pastor Kris Dockery officiating.

Jimmy was born in Brunswick on May 17, 1953, to James Ashley and Elizabeth Spikes Mancil.  He had lived in Brunswick all of his life, attending Brunswick High School.  Jimmy retired from Sea Island Company after 27 years of service, where he made numerous friends running the laundry facilities.  He was a master engineer and jack of all trades.  After his retirement from Sea Island Company, he was self-employed as plumbing and electrical contractor. Jimmy enjoyed boating and, along with his team, was a Two-Time SKA National Champion.  He was a licensed airplane pilot, and enjoyed hanging out and tinkering in his hangar at the Brunswick-Glynco Airport.  He loved his yellow '55 Chevy Bel-Air, spending Sunday's on the Altamaha River with family and friends, and enjoying riding his Harley Davidson Fat-Boy.  Jimmy was a past member of 25 Timber private hunting club.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jan Thomas Mancil, his children, Jerry Mancil (Missy) of Brunswick, Johnny Mancil (April) of Brunswick, Ashley Holmes (Brewer) of St. Simons Island, and Mollie Mancil (James Kennedy) of Brunswick, a sister, Mary Jo Owens (David) of Brunswick, 11 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Ashley Mancil, his mother, Elizabeth Spikes Hoag, and his brother Bobby Lee Mancil.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jimmy's honor to the Southeast Georgia Health System- Foundation (Memory Care) 2415 Parkwood Dr. Brunswick, GA 31520.

Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
