John Philip Agut, 70, of Brunswick, Georgia (formerly Independence, MO), passed away January 26, 2024, at his home.

John was born July 13, 1953 in Bethesda Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland, the only child of Sergeant Major Salvador ("Joe") Agut and Phyllis Louise Anderson ("Andy") Agut. Due to his father's career in the United States Marine Corps, he lived in many parts of the world including Japan, Lackawanna, New York, Maryville, Tennessee, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia and NAS Glynco, Brunswick, Georgia, to name a few. John graduated from Brunswick High School in 1971 where he played varsity football and sang in the school chorus. He also attended Brunswick Community College (now Coastal College of Georgia). After high school, his activities included being a charter member of the Golden Isles Hammerheads rugby team along with participation in theatrical plays and musicals including a lead role with The Island Players of St. Simons Island,Georgia. Around 1978, he moved to Missouri where he coached the Central Missouri State University (now UCM) women's rugby team. In 1985, he met his wife, Beverlee Reynolds Agut, and they were married at the Harry S Truman Courthouse in Independence, Missouri, on September 16, 1989. Then in 1992, they welcomed the joy of his life, a daughter, Erin. John worked as a construction inspector for several engineering firms retiring from Riverside Quindaro Bend Levee District in Kansas City in 2018. After retirement, John and Beverlee moved from Independence to the Golden Isles to enjoy retirement on Georgia's coast. John loved riding motorcycles, listening to classic rock music, watching crime shows, playing miniature golf and studying history. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Kansas City Chiefs fan,
watched every game and had an extensive ball cap collection for both teams.

John is preceded in death by both parents, Salvador and Phyllis Agut. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beverlee Reynolds Agut of the home and daughter Erin Ashlee Agut of Kansas City, Missouri. He will be missed by many friends who enjoyed his kind spirit.

Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1,2024 at Chapman Funeral Chapel, followed by a short service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Stephen Hart, Pat Thornton, Skip Hansen, Jack Evans, David Keen, and Randy Pifer will be serving as active pallbearers.
