The world lost an amazing soul on Saturday January 23rd, when John J Devenny passed away unexpectedly. John was born June 22, 1985 to Roberta Hires in Marlton, New Jersey.  From the moment he entered this world he stole his mother's heart and was a joy to his family and everyone who knew him.

John grew up loving sports and excelled in baseball, basketball and football.  He was creative and intuitive from an early age and his abilities only increased with time. At the age of 5, John's mom married Jeff Massuda who, with Roberta's love for her family was instrumental in raising John to be the decent, caring and loving man he was until the day he passed.

When his younger siblings, Daniel and Jackie were born, he loved being a big brother to them.

John learned the value of hard work early on and showed an affinity for all things culinary, beginning his lifelong career in restaurants. He really could do it all, from running the line in a kitchen to excelling as a server, John shined when it came to his work.
In 2017, John met his soulmate and best friend Danielle in Palm Springs, California. From their first date they were inseparable, he literally swept her off her feet and made her feel safe and loved from the beginning.  They loved each other intensely. They were married April 6, 2018.
John and Danielle settled in Brunswick, GA in April of 2019 and made it their home with his stepsons Jason and Matheson, who he cared for and fiercely protected as if they were his own.

John is preceded in death by his grandmother, Linda Eichmann, with whom he had a very special bond; his uncle, John Hires and his stepson, Dillon Stein.

He is survived by his wife, Danielle Devenny; mother Roberta Massuda; stepchildren Morgan Sharp, Jason Marshall and Mat Marshall; siblings Daniel Massuda and Jackie Massuda; grandparents Dan and Diana Hires; as well as in laws and countless friends.

John was an amazing man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In an excerpt from a poem John wrote, "Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us home one by one, our chain will link again.".
