John Francis (Jack) O'Hern passed away at Hospice of the Golden Isles on Saturday, November 16, 2024. He was 84 years old. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Yolanda Hernandez O'Hern, the couple moved to St. Simons Island in 2009 from Roswell, Georgia. Born August 21,
1940, Jack was the son of John and Betty O'Hern of Syracuse New York, where Jack grew up through High School. He was proceeded in death by his brother Jerry O'Hern, and sister, Susan O'Hern.

Jack received a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the University of Buffalo in 1962. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. After college was recruited by IBM where he worked in sales before entering an entirely new industry in national television broadcast sales
where he held many executive positions over three decades. His experience included Vice President of sales for Petry Broadcasting in Dallas, TX, and General Sales Manager for WAGA-TV in Atlanta, GA owned by Storer Broadcasting. Later he held Sales Manager positions in Houston,
Texas for KTHT-TV, and then for WGBO-TV in Chicago, IL. A new position in 1987 took him to New York City for positions with the Independent TV Network, the National Advertising Network, and Metro Television Network.

Upon arriving in St. Simons in 2009, Jack was an investor/Co-Owner of Georgia Beach Rentals until his retirement. Jack loved the game of golf and played it as often as he could everywhere he lived and worked. He was member of Braeburn Country Club in Houston, TX,
and the Mt. Kisco Country Club in Westchester, NY and The Country Club of Roswell in Roswell, GA.

A true Irishmen, Jack was a man's man. He could tell a vivid story in great detail, a wonderful joke and a colorful limerick from his vast repertoire of humor. He was a fun person to be around, had many friends, and was loved by all.

Although the O'Hern's never had children of their own, they are great animal lovers and known to feed colonies on ferrell cats around the island of St Simons in addition to their own family of feline. The O'Herns worship at St. Williams Catholic Church and are generous
parishioners.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. O'Hern are December 3rd at 11am at St. Williams Catholic Church on St. Simons Island. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make a donation in Jack O'Hern's name to the
Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia.
