J ohn Paul "Jack" Linkenheimer, 87, passed away March 6, 2025, at Gracemore Nursing & Rehab and Hospice of The Golden Isles.

Jack was born September 15, 1937, in Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from Springdale High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and supported the V.F.W. Post 2588 of Brunswick. After 2 tours of duty with the U.S. Navy, Jack resided in Hollywood, FL, where he was the first K-9 Officer with the Hollywood Police Department. Coming from Florida, Jack lived in Glynn County for the past 45 years and was a member of BPO Elks 691 of Brunswick. After leaving the police force, Jack enjoyed a variety of professions, including pig and chicken farmer, dental lab technician/owner, and restaurateur. He was retired from The King and Prince Resort in the maintenance department and ran his own handyman business in retirement. Jack loved cooking and entertaining, horticulture, woodworking, and many dogs throughout his lifetime, including 'Caesar', his beloved K-9 companion, 'Ryder', and most recently 'Shadow'.

Known affectionately as "Jack Ass," he was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was not always the easiest person to understand, but he lived by the motto, "To hell with you if you can't take a joke." He cherished his family and adored his wife, always leading the way onto the dance floor with her by his side. A true original, he will be remembered for his sharp wit, unwavering love, and unforgettable spirit.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Karen Linkenheimer; daughters, Dana Linkenheimer of Philadelphia, PA, Melissa Turner Pipes (Josh) of Brunswick and Kelli Linkenheimer LaRou (Scott) of Dacula, GA; two sons; grandchildren, Kelsey Turner (Cody Blades), Allison Simpson (Jonathan Person), Peter LaRou, Sydney LaRou, and a great grandson, Aiden Taylor.  He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Clarence and Margaret E. Dawson Linkenheimer; siblings James Linkenheimer, Judith Linkenheimer Deskins, Joseph Linkenheimer, and Jean Linkenheimer Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Hospice of the Golden Isles or a local Alzheimer's Association.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, 2:00pm, at Brunswick Elks Lodge 691, 1509 Union Street, Brunswick, GA 31520.
