John Edward Tompkins, 72, of Brunswick, passed away April 1, 2018, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
A service to celebrate his life, will be held Friday, April 6, 2018, 11:00 am, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in Darien, with Father Timothy McKeown and Father Christopher Ortega officiating.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Kay, in June of last year. Survivors include her daughter his children, Laura T. Daniel (John) and Edward Tompkins (Scarlett), all of Brunswick, 5 grandchildren, Madison, Olivia & Grace Daniel, Jet & Ralyn Tompkins, a brother, Benjamin Tompkins of Augusta, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tompkins was born June 20, 1945, in Augusta, GA, to Edward Wesley Tompkins and Anna Wicker Tompkins, he had lived in Brunswick since 1989, coming from Savannah. Mr. Tompkins' career in the automobile industry began in Savannah in 1971. He began as a salesman and advanced to General Manager prior to his partnership with a Brunswick dealership. After 36 years of dedicated service to loyal customers, friends and family he retired in 2007.
