John Earl Wilcox, 85, of Brunswick, passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.

John was born September 30, 1935, in Chicago, IL, to Albert Roy Wilcox and Euphemia Margaret Ogle Wilcox.  Coming from Chicago, he had lived in Brunswick for the past 20 years.  He was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America, Served with the Army National Guard, was a graduate of DeVry Institute.  He was retired from Northwestern University, after 24 years as a machinist.  He enjoyed collecting model trains, working around his home, helping others and sharing his vast knowledge of life.

A service to celebrate John's life, will be held at a later date in Peoria, IL, with Pastor Art Georges officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, IL, followed by a reception with John's favorite Pie.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Wilcox of Brunswick, children, Larry Wilcox (Cathy) of Aurora, IL, Maribeth Georges (Art), of Bartonville, IL, and Norine Wilcox of Eagan, MN, grandchildren, Kevin Wilcox, Melissa Wilcox, Diana Wilcox, and Kyle Wilcox, Dane Georges (Samantha), Griffin Georges, Katie Mil Georges, Wilson Georges, and Judi Georges, all of Illinois.  A sister-in-law, Sue Williamson of Brunswick, nieces and nephews, Christine Williamson, Rob Williamson (Renee'), Michael Williamson (Jisu), Amy Williams (Lee), 8 great nieces & nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Bob Williamson.
