Johnathon Edward Ryals, 31, of Hortense, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022, 2:00pm, at Blythe Island Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery with Harris O'Connor, Tyler Thurston, James Sanders, Tony Underwood, Henry Holton, and Chan Joseph serving as active pallbearers. A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, April 27,2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, at Chapman Funeral Chapel.
Johnathon was born April 15, 1991, in Brunswick to John Edward Ryals and Melissa Kaye O'Connor. He had lived in Brunswick until moving to Brantley County in 1999. He was passionate about baseball and began playing as a young child and continued all through school where he was a member of the Brantley County High School Baseball team and an outstanding player, graduating in 2010. He loved Atlanta Braves Baseball, and had attended Blythe Island Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Melissa O'Connor – Taylor (Joey) of Hortense, his father, John Ryals of Brunswick, children; Aubree Ryals of Hortense, Emma Ryals of Ocala, FL, brothers; Anthony Curry, and Matthew Curry, both of Hortense, sisters; Amanda Taylor (Henry) of Townsend, Marandon Wray (Ben) and Macy Prescott of Brunswick, grandparents, Glenda & Edward O'Connor, and Marie Ryals, all of Brunswick, uncles Eddie O'Connor (Pam) and Donnie Ryals (Sue) of Brunswick, nieces, Abbie and Khloe, and nephews, Ashton, Hayden, Dalton, Braydn, Tate, and Jojo, numerous cousins, great aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Eddie Ryals, and great grandmother, Tauline Rozner.
