With deeply saddened hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Jose Angel “Joe” Quesada, Sr., on October 10, 2026, at the age of 78. A proud native of Texas, Joe spent many wonderful years making memories in Laredo and Eagle Pass before spending his final years in Brunswick, Georgia. He leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories that will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born in Laredo, Texas, on July 18, 1948, Joe was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. He attended St. Peter’s Memorial School and graduated from St. Augustine High School.

Joe proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran in the United States Navy, where he served as a Naval Hospital Corpsman. He was honorably discharged after four years of service. Years later, he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve, from which he retired as a Chief Hospital Corpsman after 20 years of service.

Joe worked in the family trucking business, Gateway Transfer, in Laredo and Eagle Pass. In 1986, he joined the then-U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, now U.S. Customs and Border Protection, as an Immigration Inspector in Eagle Pass. He retired as a Supervisory CBP Officer after a career that included 30 years of federal service, in addition to his military service.

In 2016, Joe and his wife, Irene, moved to Brunswick, Georgia, where they made their home. While living there, he worked for five years as a role player supporting practical training for CBP officers at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers in Glynco, Georgia.

Joe was a devoted Roman Catholic who faithfully attended Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brunswick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Angel and Guadalupe V. Quesada; his brother, George; and his sister, Frances.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Irene Quesada (Medina); his children, Jose Angel Quesada, Jr.; Maria Rebecca (†Eric) Dugger; and Christina Elizabeth Zaragoza; his grandchildren, Christopher (Morgan) Dugger, Erica Dugger, and Anabella Zaragoza; and his great-granddaughter, Kennedy Sloan Dugger.

He is also survived by his siblings, Cuqui (Salvador) Rosillo, Ramona Q. McCarthy, and Mel (Laura) Quesada; his sister-in-law, Bertha G. Quesada (†George); numerous nieces and nephews; and his stepchildren, Tomas (Marcy) Garcia, Veronica (Tom) Morgan, Elizabeth (Victor) Ramirez, Elvia Garcia, Hector (Megan) Garcia, Jr., and Adriana Garcia. Joe also helped care for his grandchildren, Isabella and Adoniah Jace Garcia.
