Joseph Michael Acosta, 72, of Brunswick, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.

Services to celebrate Joe's life will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021, 11:00 am, at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Peter Vivenzio officiating.  Inurnment with military honors will follow at Palmetto Cemetery with Glynn Academy's Class of 1967 and Employee's of Georgia Power serving as Honorary Pallbearers.  A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time.

Joe was born June 22, 1949, in Brunswick, to  Franklin Lewis Acosta and Marie Brunegraff Acosta.  He was a lineman with Georgia Power, retiring in 2012.  Joe was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during Vietnam, and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.  He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and garden, playing poker, and watching college football.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Stephanie Cobb Acosta, children, Jacob Simeon Acosta (Marjorie) of Brunswick, and Rebekah Acosta Hedgepeth (Zack) of Alpharetta, grandchildren, Clark Acosta, Anderson and Lawson Hedgepeth, brothers, Jimmy Acosta of Leesburg, GA, and Ray Acosta (Mary) of St. Simons Island, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
