Obituary

Joyce Dickson Smith, 73, of Brunswick, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.

A visitation for family and friends to share their stories and fondest memories of Joyce will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Chapman Funeral Chapel.
Joyce was born April 16, 1948, in Lewistown, PA, to Ernest and Helen Dickson.  She had lived in Brunswick for the past 50 years, and was retired from the Glynn County Board of Education.  In her early years, she was a hairdresser.  She enjoyed doing Arts and Crafts, and liked playing board games with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Otis Smith, daughters, Shelly Smith - Brown (Brent), of Brunswick, Becky Straley Ripple (Chet). of Littlestown, PA, step-children, Tammy Powell of Brunswick, Mike Collins of Brunswick, a sister-in-law, Heather Dickson of Harrisburg, PA, grandchildren, Lucas McCoy, Brinson Brown, Chet 'Bubba' Ripple, Jr., and Skye Ripple, Timmy Powell, Tara Collins, and Emily Collins, great grandchildren, Sky Powell, Rain Powell, and Starla Powell, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Dickson, a step-daughter, Debbie Collins, and a grandson, Brad Powell.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Heart Association.
