Katherine Lee Green, 76, of Brunswick, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 11:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Cory Pittman officiating. Internment will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia. A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Chapman Funeral Chapel.
Kathy was born July 13, 1947 in Gilmer, Texas, to Alton and Cordie Mask. She had lived in Brunswick since 1965, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In 1987 Kathy was nominated for The Young Woman of The Year. For 20 years she was very active with Boy Scouts of America, having been Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 211, Cubmaster, earned her Award of Merit, earned her Wood Badge in Kentucky, and graduated from Philmont, NM Scout Ranch as a Roundtable Commissioner. She was the first woman of the Okefenokee Area Council of BOA to receive the Silver Beaver Award, which is the highest award an adult scouter can earn on council level. Kathy had worked as the custodian for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was also a school bus attendant for the Glynn County School System.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Wayne T. Green, children, Loretta Kay Cato (Tim), John Thomas Green all of Brunswick, grandchildren, Cynthia Cato Hjelmaa (Jordan) and Kayla Vaughters (Brian), great grandchildren, Everett Vaughters and Brannen Vaughters, a brother Jesee Mask (Janet) and sister, Margaret Ann Richardson, of Gilmer, TX, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Cordie Lee Mask, her mother and father-in-law, John O. and Gladys M. Green, brothers, James Alton "Junior" Mask, Robert Mask, and Terry Mask, a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and John Farris.
Honorary Pallbearers are David Green, John Green, Scott Green, Tim Cato, Dr. Herman Levy M.D. and Dr. Steven Williams M.D.
Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
