Katherine Louise Cocus Stubbs, age 75, of Brunswick, GA, passed away on October 9th, 2023 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, GA. She was surrounded by family as she ended a short but difficult battle with cancer.

Kathy was independent, strong, and unconditionally loving. She moved a lot as a child because her father was in the Navy, but her fondest memories were from the time they spent in Key West, FL. She married the love of her life, Norman Stubbs, on July 17, 1964, and together with their son Joe built Stubbs Auto Repair. Their business has been a cornerstone in automotive care in Brunswick, primarily because of the meticulous care and management that Kathy put into it. It was not uncommon to walk into Stubbs Auto Repair, ask for the "man in charge", and immediately be directed to Kathy. In her free time, she was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan. She loved to read and work in her garden. She spent a great deal of time with Norman at classic car shows or taking trips to the flying field to fly his model airplanes.

She is survived by her siblings, Frank Verbeke Jr. (Wendy) and Velma Meredith; her son, Joseph Stubbs (Monica); her grandchildren, Shandy Frey (David) and Lillian Stubbs; and her great-granddaughter, Ellington Frey. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lola Verbeke; her siblings Carl Verbeke and Sylvia Canada; and her husband, Norman Stubbs.

Visitation will be held at Chapman Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 12th 2023 at 5:15 PM, followed by a service at the same location at 6 PM.
