Obituary

Lewis Carl Burton, 73, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the Hospice of the Golden Isles, surrounded by his family.

Lewis was born on October 26, 1950 to Roy and Garnet Burton, in Ottumwa, Iowa.

After high school, Lewis attended and graduated from Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. While in college, he met and married Charlotte Weaver on June 6, 1970.  Together they served with churches in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Oklahoma and Georgia.  At the time of his death, Lewis had been the minister of North Brunswick Christian Church, in Brunswick, Georgia.  For approximately 37 years Lewis made annual mission trips to Juarez, Mexico, with Operation Care.  This ministry was very close to his heart.  His hobbies included motorcycle riding, antique cars, riding horses, and Alabama football.

Lewis was preceded in his death by his parents, Roy and Garnet Burton, and his brother, Melvin Burton.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 53 1/2 years, Charlotte, daughter, Stephanie (Patrick) Blake, sons, David (Rebecca) Burton, and Paul (Amber) Burton, grandson, Tyler Blake, granddaughter, Heidi Burton, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 3,2024 at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior at 10:00, at North Brunswick Christian Church, 3131 Cypress Mill Rd. Brunswick, GA.

As a way of remembering Lewis, we respectfully ask that donations be made in memory of Lewis to Ozark Christian College, 1111 North Main St., Joplin, Missouri 64801.
