Lorene Montgomery Jones, 95, of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta.
Funeral services will be held from the grave site at Palmetto Cemetery, on Friday, March 2, 2018, 2:00 pm, with Rev. Jim Crandall officiating.
Mrs. Jones was born September 25, 1922, in Jefferson County, AL, to John William and Marchant Thompson Montgomery. She was a graduate of Holt High School, where she was nominated Homecoming Queen, and had lived in Brunswick since 1940. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, and enjoyed gardening and tending to her rose gardens. She enjoyed crafting, especially making Christmas ornaments from family heirlooms. In her early years, she enjoyed traveling cross country with her husband and sons, camping along the way, and taking in the sights.
Survivors include her sons, David C Jones (Mary), Alan Jones (Dianne), all of Brunswick, Gregory Jones of Charleston, SC, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John William Montgomery, her mother and step-father, Marchant Thompson Poole and Jess Poole, her husband, James L. Jones, a brother, Carlton Montgomery, and a sister, Billie Montgomery Brennan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Salvation Army.
