Marie Theresa Metzler, 76, of Brunswick, GA, passed away January 7, 2023, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, GA.

Born on June 23, 1946, in Daytona Beach, FL, to Theresa Fortier and Clifford Joseph Benoit, both of whom preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Stephen John Foster (Janie), and one grandson, Parker. While still an infant, her family relocated to Schenectady, NY, where she graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1964. After graduating College in Indiana, she worked for the Federal Government before moving to Brunswick, in 1996. Marie was employed by several attorney's here in Brunswick before her retirement. Marie was an avid reader and also loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved her many animals and seemed to be magnet for any stray cats within a 5-mile radius.

Marie is survived by her husband and the love of her life, James Allen Metzler, her children, Elizabeth Schafer Snelling (David), Charles J. Schafer, Richard M. Schafer, Jr. (Tammy), Jeffrey D. Schafer (Donna), Laurel Schafer Livorno (Ron), Julia Schafer Flowers (Brent), and Tricia Metzler Poultney. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Michael, Mason, Isabel, Amanda, Ryan, Kody, Daphne, Leslie, Kelsey, Danielle, Corrinna, Christopher, Vance A., Chad, Samantha, Madalyn, Danielle, Damien, Alex, Leilani, numerous great- grandchildren and two more on the way, due this spring.

It is suggested that anyone wishing to do so, might make a donation to a local animal shelter of their choice.

Services to Celebrate Marie's life, will be held at the end of April in the Kent Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
