Marion Elfreda Alston, 64, of Townsend, GA, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville.

A service to celebrate Marion's life will be held Monday, February 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Deacon Terry Mermann officiating.

Marion is survived by her husband of 42 years, Elton Alston of Townsend, a son, Markus Alston of Brunswick, a grandson, Markus Alston, II, and a cousin Cornelia Ploetz.

Marion was born April 11, 1960, in Karlstadt, Germany, to Herman and Lieselotte Ploetz Kramer.  Marion was a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner working in the mental health field in numerous facilities including Krankenschwester in Fuerth, Germany, St. Joseph Hospital, Savannah, GA, Katharinen Hospital, Stuttgart, Germany, Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown, KY, Southeast Georgia Health System - Brunswick Campus Neurosciences Department, Brunswick, GA, Hopestill Health, Inc., St. Simons Island, GA, Gateway Community Service, and Kingsland Mental Health Clinic Marion received an Associates Degree from College of Coastal Georgia, and a Bachelor's Degree (Summa Cum Laude), Master's Degree, and Doctorate in Nursing from Georgia Southern University School of Nursing, and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
