Martha 'Marie'
Cooper
Mar 7, 1939 — Mar 24, 2022
Brunswick
After a long illness "a beautiful soul" left this Earth to join loved ones in Heaven! Marie Cooper died peacefully at home on Friday under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles. She was born and raised in Cobbtown, Ga. to Luther and Mattie Moore. She married the love of her life J.C. and became a "military wife" moving to various bases while raising her family. When J. C. retired from the Air Force, she came home to live in Tattnall Co. in 1972. Marie worked with the Tattnall Co. Schools, Reidsville United Methodist Church, and Kennedy Cablevision. She later owned and operated "Flowers by Marie" first in Reidsville and then in Savannah. Marie was a Charter member of the Miss Tattnall Co. Pageant Association, a Past President of the Reidsville Garden Club, a member of the Tattnall Co. Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Savannah Hostess City Lions Club.
She retired to Brunswick to be nearer to her grandchildren. Marie was a Volunteer with the Southeast Ga. Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Brunswick First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Duncan Sunday School Class, and a member of the United Methodist Women.
Marie leaves behind a loving family that includes her sons Barry (Marianna) Cooper and Michael Cooper of Brunswick. Granny Ree cherished her five grandchildren: Marcus, Jamie, Caleb, Kaitlin, and Lucas. She was blessed with one great grandson, Silas Chance. Marie is survived by four siblings: Ellis Moore, Roger Moore, Naomi Molchan, and Lamar Moore. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that were special to Aunt Ree.
Funeral service will be held at Brunswick First United Methodist Church on Monday at 11a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. She will be buried on Monday afternoon at Connors Baptist Church Cemetery in Cobbtown. In lieu of flowers the family asks that remembrances be given to the Brunswick First United Methodist Church at 1400 Norwich Street Brunswick, Ga.
