Martha Jean Ingram Lucas, of St. Simons Island, peacefully left this Earth at the age of 92.

Formerly of Sandy Springs, she was married to the late Charles Fred "Red" Lucas Jr., of Nashville, Tenn., for 49 years. Jean was born on Feb. 8, 1928, in Wilmington, N.C., to Marthabel Eberhardt Ingram and James Ermogene Ingram, and spent her summers on Wrightsville Beach.

After attending University of Georgia and Duke University, she met Red and they were married at the Duke Chapel. In the early years, spent in Franklin, Tenn., Jean was active in the historical society while raising her daughters, Martha Jackson Lucas Collette, St. Simons Island, Tara Ann Lucas, St. Simons Island, and Sara MacLaurin Lucas Hopkins (Tommy) of Griffin and St. Simons Island.

Jean was a real estate broker in Atlanta for 30 years, before moving to St. Simons Island.

She adored her grandchildren, Patrick Lucas Collette and Michael Paul Collette (Tiffany) of Salida, Colo., Dr. Charles Thomas Hopkins III (Anna) of St. Simons Island and Dr. Paige MacLaurin Hopkins Parker (Harrison) of Macon. Her greatest joys were her great-grandchildren, Charles "Charlie" Thomas Hopkins IV, Anne "Nancy" Frances Hopkins and MacLaurin "Mac" Elizabeth Parker.

Her family is planning an oyster roast in her honor on St. Simons Island.
