Mary Cahoon Harris was born December 29, 1934, in Brunswick, GA to Leonard and Corine (Bates) Cahoon.  Mary graduated from Risley High School in 1952 and went on to study Bookkeeping and Business Administration at the undergraduate college level. In 1955, she was united in marriage to Raymond Harris. Together, they raised five sons with love and devotion and maintained a loving and supportive marriage of 61 years up until Raymond's passing in 2016.

Mary began her career working in the Delicatessen shop at J.M. Fields Department Store, then became a paraprofessional at Risley Elementary School, and a case worker at the Glynn County Department of Family and Children's services. Eventually, she and her husband went on becoming successful owners/operators of The Royal Group Janitorial Services.

Mary's passion for community service was evident early on. She was a member of Bright Start Baptist Church and became Mother of the Church in her later years. She was an active member of The Links Incorporated, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Auxiliary group (Zeta Amicae), and the Democratic Party. Mary received numerous accolades and honors for her relentless creativity, work, and leadership.

She was a loving and generous person and made a positive difference in many people's lives. Mary traveled, stayed active, and did her best to be healthy and agile in mind, body, and spirit. Mary treasured her family and friends, who always looked forward to her wonderful cakes and homemade ice cream!

Mary was loved, gave love, and served our Heavenly Father every day of her life. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her children, Raymond Harris, Jr., Edwin Donald "Donny" Harris (Paula), Michael Anthony Harris all of Brunswick, William Ronald "Ronny" Harris of Villa Rica, GA, and Fredrick Barrington "Barry" Harris of Kaneohe, Hawaii.
