Mary Kate Martin, 84, of Brunswick, passed away May 13, 2026 at Homelife on Glynco.

Mary Kate was born April 21, 1942, in Valdosta, GA to Fred Earl Blanton, Sr., and Juanita Simpson Blanton.  She was a Class of 1960 graduate of Lowndes High School and was a member of Unity Primitive Baptist Church of Valdosta.  She attended Kree Institute of Atlanta where she became a Licensed Electrologist.  Coming from Valdosta, GA, she had lived in Brunswick since 1969, and was the owner and operator of Brunswick Electrolysis.  In 1994, at the age of 52, she received her Commercial Driver's License and drove 'Big Rigs' and Limousine's from the West Coast to the East Coast, retiring from driving in 2010.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Barwick (Ronnie) of Brunswick, a brother, Sidney Banton (Donna) of Valdosta, a sister-in-law, Mary Blanton of Valdosta, grandchildren, Chris Barwick, Chase Barwick, and Samantha Barwick, several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Bates, Sr., her second husband, George Martin, a son, Glen Bates, Jr., a brother, Fred E. Blanton, Jr., and a granddaughter, Lynndy Barwick.

At Mary Kate's request, there will be no services.
