Mary Ann Watson

Mary Ann Watson, 65, of Darien passed away Saturday, October 31, 2026, surrounded by family at Altamaha Health Care in Jesup where she had resided for the past several months.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 28, 1960, Mary was the daughter of the late Olive Mae Cox Devore and Charles Eugene Watson.  She was a 1979 McIntosh County Academy Graduate.  

Mary enjoyed writing and was known for her beautiful penmanship.  She also enjoyed sewing, coloring, collecting Barbie Dolls, shopping, and watching horror movies.  She loved listening to soft rock music, including her favorites, Andy Gibb and Cher.  In her younger years, she enjoyed reading Teen Beat Magazine and watching wrestling, especially her favorite wrestler, Ricky Steamboat.  She had a fondness for cats, tigers, and lions, she enjoyed seafood, particularly shrimp and crab, and valued time spent with family.

She is survived by her siblings, Jan Moody (Tony) of Darien, Tommy Cheek of Darien, Cindie Jenkins (John) of Owenton, Kentucky and Lorna Laswell of Marengo, Indiana, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Olive Mae Cox Devore, and her father, Charles Eugene Watson.
