Ouida Hutchinson Fry, 82, of Brunswick, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Services to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2026, 6:00pm, at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Keith Kelly officiating. Visitation with refreshments will follow at The Chapman Event Center immediately following the service.
Ouida was born December 6, 1943, in Brunswick to Archie and Hilda Minchew Hutchinson. At the age of 13, after the death of her parents, Ouida and three of her siblings went to live at the Masonic Home of Georgia. When Ouida turned 18, she went to live with her aunt Millie in Jesup, graduating from Wayne County High School with the Class of 1961. Shortly after graduation, on July 30, 1961, she married Joe Fry and moved to Brunswick. Ouida worked with the Department of Natural Resources for more than 30 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Altamaha Park Association, holding numerous offices including President, which was her longest held position. She was an active member of Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed family genealogy.
Survivors include her sons, Joey Fry of Brunswick, and Jeff Fry (Betty) of Inman, SC, grandchildren, Zac Fry (Allie), Kati Kelly (Graham), Zane Fry (Hannah), and Jordan Fry (Kassidy), great grandchildren, Van, Rosie, Molly, & Chase Fry, and Hank & Violet Kelly, a brother, Jack Hutchinson (Gayle) of Brunswick, and numerous nieces and nephews, including her care-givers for the past 2 years, Lyndie Davis and Leigh Hoppey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie & Hilda Minchew Hutchinson, her husband, Joseph "Joe" Harold Fry, siblings, Archie Hutchinson, Jr., Buddy Hutchinson, Peggy Godwin, Ronnie Hutchinson, and twin sisters Ilene & Irene Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions are requested to the Masonic Home of Georgia, or Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Chapman Funeral Chapman & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
