Philip L. Gendron a.k.a Pops and Papa Smurf, 91, of Brunswick, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Jesup Healthcare & Rehab in Jesup, GA.

Philip was born October 9, 1930, in Biddeford, Maine, to George and Flora Nicol Gendron.  He served with the United States Marine Corps from 1954 until 1955 and was of the Catholic faith.  He was the owner and operator of Gendron Lumber Company in Wolfeboro, NH, prior to moving to Brunswick, where he has lived for the past 54 years.

Survivors include his son, Chris Gendron of Brunswick, step-daughters, Linda Lewis of Brunswick, and Ann Wheeler of Waverly, a brother, George Gendron of Macias, Maine, a sister, Grace Dec of Monmouth, Maine, a granddaughter, Savannah Nicol Gendron Checketts (Robin), great grandchildren, Oliver Loren Checketts and Allison Underwood, a niece, Lorrie, his constant canine companion, 'Flo', and numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Gendron.

A private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
