Philip Popwell

Philip Wilson Popwell, 61, of Blackshear, formerly of Brunswick , passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Altamaha Healthcare Center in Jesup.

Philip was born February 25, 1965 in Brunswick to Philip Lee Popwell and Loretta Faye Godley Popwell. Having lived in Blackshear for the past 2 years, he had lived in Brunswick all of his life graduating from Brunswick High School with the class of 1983. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 27 years as an operator in the control room. Philip loved people and never met a stranger. He had a generous heart and was a giver, always willing to help someone in need. He loved his family deeply, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, boating, Hunting and being outdoors. He will be remembered for his big personality, sense of humor, generosity, and his strong faith and love for Jesus.

Philip is survived by his children, Shayna Popwell (Josh), Philip Daniel Popwell (Samantha), Travis Popwell (Nicole) and Andrew Popwell (Michelle), his mother, Loretta Faye Godley Popwell, sisters, Amy Priest (Scott) and Rebecca Trawick (Steve), grandchildren, Gavin Popwell, Hailey Popwell, Jadyn Harris, Finley Dowling, Braylon Hunt, Hudson Popwell, Asher Popwell, Harmony Walker, Eligh Strickland, Grayson Strickland and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Philip Lee Popwell, the mother of his children Annette Lewis Popwell, his sisters Donna Cooper and Phyllis Popwell and a brother Charles Popwell.

Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
