Quincy Lairsey, 91, of Brunswick, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
A service to celebrate Quincy's life, will be held Monday, January 29, 2024, 3:00pm, with Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 until service time.
Quincy was born December 8, 1932, in Waycross, GA to James Quincey and Hettie Seymore Lairsey. He was a graduate of Wacona High School where he was named the fastest runner in the state, donning the #27 jersey for the Wacona High School Hornets. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Coming from Waycross, he had lived in Brunswick since 1969. Upon arriving in Brunswick, he was employed as a police officer with the City of Brunswick Police Department. He went on to work for Badcock & Wilcox, until its closing, then to Sea Island Company as a security officer, for the remainder of his working life.
Quincy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Loper Lairsey, daughters, Rhonda Lairsey Miller, Tammy Lairsey Weston, Lisa Lairsey Goodbread (Mike), and a step-son, James Dickerson, grandchildren, Crystal Miller, Lacie Piper (Jon), Kacie Hill (Ben), Ben Weston (Kaytlin), Stacie Weston, Quincy Cole Ferrell (Laura), Hannah Ferrell, and Trace James (Kaitlynn), 11 great grandchildren, with 3 more on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 siblings, a son, David Quincy Lairsey, and a grandson, Chad Dickerson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
