Richard Nelson Thrower

Richard Nelson Thrower, 84, of Brunswick, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Sears Coastal Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Richard was born August 28, 1941, in Brunswick, to James Nelson Turner and Eva Cleo Parsons Thrower. He graduated high school in Arkansas City, Kansas, and moved back to the Georgia Coast, where he had lived in Brunswick and Waycross. In Brunswick, he was the co-owner of Coastal Decorators, then moving to Waycross where he was a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger, then back to Brunswick for official retirement. He loved boating, fishing and watching NASCAR racing.

Richard is survived by his children, Paul Thrower (Brittany)of Sumter, SC, and Melanie Mock of Hoboken, GA, siblings, Alan Thrower (Jeanette) of Tennessee, Jean Moore (Mike) of South Carolina, CleEtta Fisk (Joe) of North Carolina, a sister-in-law, Christine Thrower-Skinner of Florida, grandchildren, Jacob Thrower, Molly Thrower, Brooklin Thompson, and Kristopher Mock, great grandchildren, Harley & Anikin Mock, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Nelson Thrower, his mother, Eva Cleo Parsons Busbee, a daughter, Christa Thrower, and a brother, J.D. Thrower.
