December 6, 2024, Ricky Gene Barr, age 68 went to his eternal home and everlasting arms of God at the
Southeast Georgia Hospital.
Born in Dublin, Georgia May 23, 1956, to Hubert A. Barr and Betty Dominey–Barr Anderson.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Hubert A. Barr, brother Allen Barr, Sr. (Lisa Duncan Barr),
Grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Dominey and Mrs. Vida Pearl Dominey.
Survivors are his wife, Gale Godley Barr, stepson Bryan Bergman, Mother Betty Dominey-Barr Anderson,
sister Linda B. Pate (R.J. Pate), nephews Bubba Allen Barr and Dave James Barr, niece Kristy Barr Quinn
and great niece and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gene and his family moved to Brunswick, Georgia in 1963 and he graduated from Brunswick High
School. He was a very skilled construction/remodeling contractor, a professional driver for FLETC, and
CDL driver.
Gene greatly enjoyed being Santa to little children for many years. He made many friends pursuing his
hobbies of boating, flying model airplanes, camping, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle,
recreational shooting, and riding his golf cart. He was a member of the Coastal Georgia Gun Club. With
the help of "No Kill Glynn," Gene adopted, cared for, and loved many cats. His favorite cat was
"Biscuit."
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday December 12, 2024 at 3pm in the chapel of Chapman's
Funeral Home with visitation one hour before service, the Reverend Jackie Holton officiating
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to "Do Not Kill Glynn".
Chapmans Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
