Rita Lipthratt, 78, of Brunswick, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Folkston Park Nursing Home in Folkston.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025, 11:00am, at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Brother Rick Brown and Brother Art Cyphers officiating.  A visitation for family and friends will follow.  Interment will be held at a later date in Chapel Park Cemetery.

Rita was born August 8, 1946, in Baxley to O.C. and Ocilla Sikes Carter.  She was a graduate of Appling County High School, and had lived in Brunswick since 1975.  Rita learned to play the piano at the age of 4, and played the piano for several churches including Golden Isles Baptist Church for 2 years, Northside Baptist Church for 3 years, and Norwich Baptist Church for 34 years, where she was also a member.  She was a devout Christian that loved her church family.  She also loved playing the piano and cooking.

Rita is survived by her children and step-children; Rena Harlow (Darin) of Brunswick, Randy Gordon (Donna) of Newport News, VA, Ronda McMillan of Brunswick, Russell Lipthratt (Kathy) of Brunswick, Roxanne Jennings (Tom) of Baxley, and Rory Lipthratt of Brunswick,  she is also survived by a special sister-in-law; Naomi Lipthratt, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Lipthratt, Jr., a sister, Nellie Faye Conner, a brother, Burton E. Carter, and a step-son, Robert B. Lipthratt.
