Robert Alva Lindsay passed away of Covid-19 on January, 2nd of 2021. His smile and sense of humor will be remembered by many. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
He was born on August 11th, 1940 in Brunswick, Georgia. He was a graduate of the Glynn Academy class of 1958. He joined the Coast Guard that same year, and served for 20 years before retiring in Elizabeth City, NC with the rank of Chief.
He earned an Associates degree in Nursing from the College of the Albemarle in 1979. He returned to Brunswick in 1983 and worked as a RN in the SICU, PACU and Endoscopy Unit until his retirement from the hospital. After his retirement, he worked for several years at the FLETC health division.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Andrew and Myrtle Lindsay, sisters Lawanna Lindsay and Barbara Ann Womack.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy Lindsay; daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Bobby Wells; grandson, Dylan Wells, and granddaughter, Perry Wells. He is also survived by his daughter, Rona Simpson and son, Roger Lindsay; as well as grandchildren; Marlea Martin (daughter of Rona), Carly Lewis (daughter of Rona), and Robbie Lindsay (son of Roger); and several great-grandchildren.
His wishes to be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean will take place with Military Honors by the USCG at a later date.
A memorial service for family and friends is being held at 2pm Monday, January 4th at Our Lady of the Nativity in Darien, Georgia. Masks and social distancing protocols are mandatory and will be enforced.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff of the Coronary Care Unit of Southeast Georgia Health System. They would also like to express their gratitude to the team of phenomenal physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants who worked tirelessly on Bob's behalf.
